Buhari Seeks Extension of 2015 Budget Implementation for FCT


President Muhammadu Buhari has sought the extension of implementation of the Budget of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to enable the FCT pay for pending critical to the FCT were still pending. 

In a letter sent to the Senate on Tuesday, President Buhari noted that the FCT administration only had seven months in 2015 for implementing its budget which was signed in May 2015.

Buhari said that numerous projects which are critical to the FCT were still pending hence the need to extend the implementation of the budget.

``In order to meet its obligation and as permissible by the constitution, the FCT appropriation need to be extended to March 31, 2016.

``That would enable the FCTA make payments for various critical and essential ongoing projects,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the committee on Banking and other Finacial Institutions submitted its report on the abuse of the Treasury Single Account (TSA), to be debated by the senate at a later date.

Also, the Committee on Ethics also submitted its report on the petition against Total Exploration Nigeria Limited by some staff who were allegedly disengage unlawful. 


Other petitions submitted by the ethics committee chaired by Sen. Sam Anyanwu included the petition against the Sen. Kabir Marafa for allegedly misleading the public against the Senate and report on a petition against the former Chairman of the EFCC for alleged mismanagement of recovered looted funds.
