Fuel scarcity would have been over if deregulation was allowed in 2012 - Lawmaker

Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, (PDP Abia North) on Tuesday, urged the Federal Government to apologise to Nigerians for the hardship occasioned by scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

Ohuabunwa told newsmen that it was members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that championed mass protests when the previous government attempted to deregulate the sector.

FG Restricts MDAs from Spending Service Wide Votes Over Abuse


The Federal Government on Thursday disclosed its decision baring Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) from spending money for the Service Wide Votes.

The Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun told the Senate Committee on Finance that the restriction became necessary in view of abuse of the vote by MDAs over the years.

N25bn TSA Fraud: FG, not MDAs Should Pay for Transfers – Minister


The Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun on Thursday, said that the company managing the transfer to the Treasury Single Account (TSA) had no business charging Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Adeosun who was responding to questions from the Senate Committee on Finance Chaired by Sen.. John Eno, however clarifies that only about N8 billion was actually deducted.

Alleged 23,000 Ghost Workers: FG Goes After Banks to Recover Monies.



The Federal Government had disclosed plans to go after banks to recover all monies paid to the 23,000 ghost workers registered on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).

The Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun disclosed while briefing the Senate Committee on Finance that the ministry was still conducting investigations.

 FG Threatens to Scrap NIMASA Over Contract Outsourcing


The Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi has said that the ministry will rather scrap the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency that continue outsourcing its core responsibility.

Amaechi while briefing the Senate Committee on Marine Transport headed by Abubakar Kyari said that NIMASA was set up basically to provide safety.
