NASS gate sealed as Group storm Assembly in protest.

The gate leading to the National Assembly was on Tuesday, locked down to forestall two groups of protesters from gaining entrance into the National Assembly Complex.

The two group of protesters stormed the National Assembly in protest of myriad of issue bothering on the National Assembly.

One of the groups `Save Nigeria Group’ came on solidarity protest while the `Occupy National Assembly’ sought the resignation of the President of the Senate Bukola Saraki among other things.

The Occupy National Assembly protesters, wearing green and white tee shirts, carried placards which read: ``Legislators stop budget padding”: ``Return exotic cars”: ``Saraki must go": ``Enough is enough”, among others.

One of the leaders of the group, Sadiq Jidda said Saraki while speaking with Newsmen, said that he and other protesters were unhappy with the National Assembly in the area of law making.

He said that based on all the allegations leveled against the President of the Senate, it was time he resigned while also querying salaries, allowances and constituency projects of legislators.

``What does a legislator have to do with projects? We are gathered here to occupy National Assembly.

``Senate President should resign, his integrity is in question and he has been indicted. Yes, he has not been convicted but his integrity is in question,” he said. Some other members of the group said that they were not protesting for Saraki’s resignation but for the many issues in the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, the pro-Saraki group ``Save Nigeria Group” who came 30 munites earlier than the Occupy Nigeria Group insisted that it was not necessary for Saraki to resign.

Speaking to newsmen, the leader of the pro-Saraki group, Solomon Adodo said those calling for Saraki's resignation means no well for the country.

He said the emerging negative trend must be fought by all and that the tenet of democracy must not be compromised.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the main gate of the National Assembly was still locked and most of the newsmen were inside the complex while the protesters stayed out.No one was allowed in or out of the complex through the main gate.
