‎Tinubu Condemns 2016 Budget Proposal

Senator Oluremi Tinubu ‎( APC Lagos Central) has condemned the 2016 budget proposal of President Muhammadu Buhari  saying it lacks provision for Women development.

The Lawmaker while contributing to the budget consideration stated that the allocations to the Women Affairs Ministry is the least and lacks provision for the welfare and development of women.
She reminded the All Progressives Congress (APC) of  their promise prior the election to run a gender friendly government .

"The APC in his manifesto mentioned that there is need for an all encompassing empowerment programmes for Nigerian women, such comprehensive empowerment requires fund which should be included in the budget for implementation.
I discovered that the allocation for The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs is so meager"

‎Tinubu spoke on the state of children and women who are internally displaced stating that the women are the ones who have the bulk of the burden resting on their shoulders. She then added that the change that was expected is not the one being experienced now.

"Because we talk about change doesn't mean we are going to dodge and support what is not working.‎

The Senator said women were only used for campaigns and dumped afterwards and that she was speaking on behalf of all Nigeria Women.

"Women cannot just be used for campaigns and given empty promises, if not the government will incur the wrath of Nigerian women." She added

She called for the committees responsible to effect the necessary changes ‎to create room for more provision for Women.
