Procurement Act: Saraki Tasks Colleagues on Implementation


Senate president Bukola Saraki on Thursday urged his colleagues to ensure that oversight functions are taking seriously to secure the full implementation of the procurement act as amended.

He disclosed this after a clause by clause consideration of the amendment bill that paved its passage for third reading.


“I want to thank the committees for the due process and all those who have contributed; this will go a long way to promote local content.

“We also have a major task ahead of us by ensuring that the executive complies especially in the area of first policy options this will help to stimulate the economy especially in a time when the economy is facing challenges.  Saraki Said

The procurement act amendment was sponsored by Senator Joshua Dariye and will give priority to Made-in-Nigeria goods by adopting first option policy, increase local content and encourage local entrepreneurs.
